Imagine if it was possible to have the feeling that a video game shares the same interests as you. Much like in social interaction, for example two people sharing a common interest, the relationship between a player and a video game is a unique connection.
Video games that contain additional content (such as pop culture references/easter eggs) in which the player can relate, are more likely to strongly engage a player. Endogenous games bring existing identities and experiences that color interpretations of the game experience (Squire 6). Depending on prior experiences of the player’s general life, games can have different levels of engagement. Player experience is a peculiar aspect in endogenous video games.
